GAY PEOPLE'S CHRONICLE 11

COMMUNITY GROUPS

The Garden Party is the social event of the season

Bored? Nothin' to do but sit around the pool, sipping on your iced tea and soakin' up the rays? Need some excitement in your life, Bunky? Then come to the Garden Party-the social event of the summer.

What's so great about the Garden Party? Well, how does a champagne reception in Cleveland's historic Schweinfurth House, complete with tour and a mini-concert Guytano Parks sound? Need more? Then add a glorious party in the house's lovely gardens. Provide refreshments and a delicious buffet lunch. Include friendly, interesting guests. Then spice the whole event up with a silent auction and a live celebrity auction, with items such as

A photo essay of our lives. The Cleveland Lesbian Gay Center is seeking lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people to be featured in a photo essay depicting life in our community. The pictures and words created through this project, entitled "We Are..." will be used for fund-raising to benefit the Center, and for the education of the non-gay communty.

a week at a Key West condo, tickets to the opening night of Angels in America, Bukovnik posters, dinner and theatre packages, fine art and antique items, and a whole lot more. Oh yes, and did I mention the Grand Raffle Prize? It's only a five night stay at a lovely restored inn in grand ole San Francisco, with a certificate towards air fare.

The Garden Party will be held Sunday, July 23. The patron reception begins at 11 am. General admission is at noon. Ticket prices are $55 for patrons (includes champagne reception, tour and concert), and $30 general admission. Schweinfurth House is at 1951 E. 75th Street, between Chester and Euclid in Cleveland. A limited number of tickets are available

at the door. Don't miss this event!

OF GREATER CLEVELAND

Judy Maruszan, a Center volunteer, and Ann Swider are coordinating this project. Swider is a wellknown Cleveland area professional photographer and is donating herphoto services. She hopes to portray a diverse spectrum of women and men both individually and in groups, showing who we are at home, at work, and at play.

The first fund-raising plan is to create a lesbian, gay, and bisexual community calendar featuring these photos and highlighting key community events and resources. Local businesses can help sponsor the calendar by purchasing advertising space. The pictures will also be used to create community displays for use by Center groups like the Speakers Bureau as a visual resource for increasing visibility and breaking stereotypes.

If you or your family, friends, co-workers, or other group would like to be photographed, or become a sponsor, or just help out, please call Jeanine at the Center, 216522-1999.

"I LOVED IT!

And what made me feel great was that I brought a straight friend with me, and she had a blast. We both laughed hysterically the whole theatre was going nuts!"
